On the 2012 State of the Union
Rep. McCarthy issues statement on President Barack Obama’s 2012 State of the Union speech.
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy issued the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s 2012 State of the Union Address:
The President laid out an ambitious agenda to keep our economic recovery going, and he’s right to stress that we need fundamental and long-term structural changes to our economy to keep America strong.
I’m glad that he focused on working together and fairness for all Americans.
Let’s start by passing a long-term extension to the payroll tax cut for middle-class Americans, which both Republicans and Democrats should agree upon.
Right now, nothing is more important than putting politics aside and working together to get our economy back on track.
Carolyn McCarthy is the representative of New York’s Fourth Congressional District. She was first elected in 1996.

It seemed to be more of the usual--tax and spend. He's given his immigration speech now for three years, and as usual forgets about it a month or two later. Since he's in full campaign mode, and needs votes, I'm sure he'll push this agenda as hard as possible for those votes.

JLS has mis-spoken. It's called borrow and spend. The tax rates under Obama are lower than they were under Bush. It's the Republicans that don't want to extend the payroll tax cut for the poor and middle-class. Yes, it's the Republicans that want to raise taxes. Should Obama should raise taxes like Ronald Reagan did (13 times)?
Every politician is in full campaign mode - always. It is the new political paradigm. I'll let you get back to Fox news now.

The Republicans do not want to RAISE taxes to anyone--unlike Obama, who mistakenly believes taxing the rich will solve his spending problems. And if Obama feels it's the fault of the bankers and those on Wall Street, --why does he continue to take campaign donations from the very same people? I'll let you get back to MSNLC now.

I'm sorry, wasn't it the Republicans that wanted to keep the payroll tax until the end of 2012 and the Dems just kicked it down the road for 3 months?
