POLL: Most Dangerous Intersection in Mineola
Which intersection is most dangerous and how can it be made more safe?
Last January, a man was struck trying to cross Old Country Road at night near Mineola Boulevard.
In May 2011, a backhoe fell off a flatbed as its transport overturned near the corner of Roslyn Road and Jericho Turnpike.
Nassau County has even mentioned the following possible candidate intersections for the installation of red light cameras in Mineola:
- Old Country Road and Roslyn Road/ Washington Avenue
- Old Country Road and Mineola Boulevard/ Franklin Avenue
- Willis Avenue and Jericho Turnpike
- Roslyn Road and Jericho Turnpike
- Mineola Boulevard and Jericho Turnpike
- Herricks Road and Jericho Turnpike
What do you think is the most dangerous street or intersection in the Mineola area and how do you think it can be made safer?
Tell us in the comments.

Why would DOT have a left turn lane only both ways @ Mineola Blvd. & Jericho trnpke., but NOT have a left hand turn signal as well? There's an accident in the making here.

They changed the lanes and never put up signs, they only changed it by painting different arrows on the road. Every time I am at that intersection I almost see an accident. People who are heading North don't realize that the people in the Southbound right lane are going to go straight, because they used to only be able to turn right (not that they didn't sometimes go straight anyway). So, the southbound people turning left have to slam on their breaks when the northbound right lane people go straight. I don't know if the DOT thought they were solving some problem, but they have caused a very dangerous situation.

Ridiculous driving. Bus going through a red light and a moron in a car following right behind. People need to slow down, before someone gets killed!
