SUV and School Bus Collide on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola

At least two victims transported to hospital.

An SUV collided with the rear of a mini-school bus transporting special-needs children on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola at about 4:14 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Beebe Road in front of the 99-Cent store that was the former location of Blockbuster Video.

Multiple ambulances from Mineola, Garden City Park and Williston Park as well as several from Nassau County responded to the accident, which caused backups along the westbound-lanes of Jericho Turnpike.

The front end of the SUV was damaged and the rear door of the mini-school bus, owned by We Transport, hung open, indicating that the SUV may have collided with the rear-end of the bus.
