Now is the Time to Save on That Item You Wanted for the Holidays

The 2012 line of products and services are arriving and companies MUST sell 2011 inventory.

We have all seen the Black Friday and Holiday Sales advertisements all over the internet. People waiting in long lines to save $50-plus.

They make it so enticing to receive 20 to 30 percent off an item. Companies know how to grab our attention and understand that most consumers make purchases on a whim, or buy items that they don't even need because they feel like they got a deal. Sound familiar?

For those of you that may have returned a gift, or didn't make those frivolous purchases, now is the time to find great bargains.

Today, I am going to share one tip that should help you find the lowest price on an item that you may be interested in purchasing.

  1. Type product name into google search field (provide brand, item number if known).
  2. When results appear, scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see 3-4 stores illustrating prices.
  3. Click on the header link that states your products name in bold - It can be found above the 3-4 stores mentioned earlier.
  4. This header link will show you a plethora of stores that offer your item and the price.
  5. Write down or copy and paste 5-6 companies names that you may be familiar with when making purchases.
  6. Next step is to type into the Google search box the name of the store that is offering your product and then coupon codes. Example: Cole Haan Online Coupons
  7. You will be shocked by the offers. Retailmenot.com, Couponcabin.com, Nextag.com are a few quality sites on the web.
  8. Best of all, most companies are desperate to dump inventory after the holidays. Many online stores are offering up to 60% off top brands, plus, the additional savings from the coupon codes. Finishline.com, Colehaan.com, Newegg.com, Nike.com (clearance) etc.
  9. If you prefer going into a store, be sure to have the coupon code, or printable coupon (as a PDF) on your cell phone. At this time, most businesses will honor it.
  10. Always try to negotiate. It can't hurt to ask, as most people don't.
  11. Lastly, if you want a daily deal on restaurants, services, and products there is always plumdistrict.com, livingsocial.com and Patch.com.
