Donations Help Winthrop Pediatric Patients Celebrate Giants Super Bowl Win

Stop & Shop donates Giants championship memorabilia to Winthrop's Children's Medical Center.

Several young New York Giants fans undergoing treatment at were treated to a bevy of gifts Monday following Big Blue’s victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

A series of bags filled with Giants memorabilia including   pennants, cups, caps, t-shirts, pennants, cups, foam fingers and Giant’s toy dolls were brought to Winthrop’s Children’s Medical Center by members of Stop & Shop – one of the team’s sponsors – in an effort to cheer up the children who are undergoing care at the hospital.

Stop & Shop Assistant District Director Christopher Turturro, who brought the gifts, said it is their hope “that these items will cheer up the young patients who are not able to share in the excitement of the Giant’s victory at school with their classmates.”

“It is always our goal to give these kids as comfortable and happy a stay as possible given their individual circumstances,” Winthrop Vice Chairman of Pediatrics Dr. Joseph Greensher said. “It is difficult enough being away from home, and without their parents there with them at all times. These small acts of kindness, like this gesture from Stop & Shop, only make it easier for them to deal with their illness and get better more quickly.”
