You’re time-pressed enough, so we’re happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: , Wednesday, August 31 through Friday, September 2 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Learn about abstract art and what inspired the famous artist Willem de Kooning. Get inspired by nature and Long Island’s great light as we fill our garden with painting and music. Move your body as you dance about the canvas with big brushes and swinging strokes to create your very own abstract masterpiece.

Pricing: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members)

Where/When: , weekly on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Why Go: Children can do a free craft while you enjoy a cup of coffee and a cupcake! Craft changes weekly - some crafts include painting suncatchers, creating a fish out of a paper plate, decorating a picture frame, etc.

Why Go: It offers lots of fun for kids and adults at reasonable prices.

Pricing: Single person is $4.20 a game plus $4.35 for shoes.

Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art, Sunday, September 4, 18 and 25 at 1:00 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a docent-led family walk-through of the exhibition and, beginning at 1:30 p.m., supervised art activities for the whole family.
