You’re time-pressed enough, so we’re happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

1. Elmo Makes Music

Where/When: Nassau Coliseum, Friday, Sept. 16 at 7pm; Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Come see Jenny, a music teacher, who arrives on Sesame Street to discover that her instruments are missing. The Muppets come to the rescue and find ‘instruments’ they never knew existed. Elmo and friends teach children that everyone can make beautiful music.

Pricing: $15 and up

Where/When: Sands Point Preserve, Saturday and Sunday, September 10 & 11 and 17 & 18 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go: The popular weekend event, features knights in shining armor, medieval archers and kings and queens.

Pricing: During the Medieval Festival, all visitors to the Sands Point Preserve pay the Festival admission of $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 4 to 14. Children under 4 years of age are free with a parent.

Where/When: Hofstra University, Sunday, September 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Italian Experience Festival has grown to be a popular Long Island tradition. As in the past, the Italian Experience will feature a full itinerary of crafts, live entertainment, children’s activities and food.

Pricing: $6 adults, $4 seniors, children under 12 free.

Where/When: , Sunday, September 18 from 12 to 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: FamilyFest offers fun-filled family activities including kayaking, wildlife presentations, sandcastle building, arts and crafts, kite flying, circle drumming, food, giveaways and much more.

Pricing:  The event is free, but a $5 per vehicle parking fee will be charged.

Why Go: Watch the girls varsity soccer team take on Locust Valley.
