Where/When: , Friday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Kids can take part in the popular theater workshops such as “Simple Machines Please,” “Balance and Motion” or “WLICM Radio Live.” Get some courage, jump on stage and join in the fun!

Pricing: $4 with museum admission, $3 LICM members, $8 theater only

2. Garden Explorers

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, Fridays through August 12, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Kids will investigate the ins and outs of our local Long Island environment with its native flora and fauna. This successful program maintains small class sizes to allow Garden Explorers to unearth their inner gardener on an intimate scale. Each class includes a lesson, a hike, and other educational activities.

Pricing: $10 per class, $5 for members. Includes accompanying adult. Registration required, please call (516) 333-0048 Ext. 301.

Where/When: , Saturday, August 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: A family event that will teach you about aquatic environment; offers education stations and open fishing. This fishing clinic is limited to 150 people, so be sure to preregister.

Pricing: $8 parking or free if you are an Empire Pass member

Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art, Saturday, August 6 from 11 a.m to 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: A fun-family afternoon on the fabulous grounds of Nassau County Museum of Art featuring a tour of the Sculpture Park. During the tour, families will participate in a lively adventure to locate art materials that will then be used to create a personalized sculpture.

Pricing: Admission is $20 (museum members, $10), children 4-12, $5, includes admission to the museum. Weekends only there is a $2 parking fee (members, free). Advance registration is suggested but tickets will also be available day of the event on a space-available basis.

Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art, Weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Summer Days at Nassau County Museum of Art is a new drop-in program that includes interactive tours of the exhibition of sculpture and photography by Robert Hite and supervised hands-on artmaking inspired by the exhibition. The program is designed for children ages 4-10.

Pricing: Free with museum admission. Admission for the Art Space only is $5 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12, students or seniors 62+; combined Main Building/Art Space admission is $10 adults, $8 seniors, $4 children and students; members are always free. Weekends only there is a $2 parking fee (members, free).
