You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: Hicks Nurseries, Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 20. Hours during the show are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 8 p.m.

Why Go: Lots of flowers, beautiful displays, children's events. On Saturday, March 12, children under 12 are invited to plant their own beanstalks. Take them home, watch them grow inside and put them outside in April to produce their own beans! Stop by the Children’s Corner anytime during the day to plant your beans.

Where/When: , Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

Why Go: The wild coyote has a long history intertwined with man, present in Native American folklore to today’s modern news clippings. Please join Frank Vincenti of the Wild Dog Foundation to further explore their fascinating ecology and potential in New York City. Advance registration required.

Why Go: With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, pop into the LICM Theater for an exploration of traditional Irish music with Darlene Graham and the Shades of Green Band!

Pricing: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members), $8 theater only

Why Go: Leprechauns are mischievous fairies in Irish folktales that are able to grant wishes. Create adorable leprechaun finger puppets and bring the luck of the Irish into your home!

Why Go: Female Singing Phenom, Danielle Reed, will entertain you with “Sounds that Astound”. This “Korean Idol” finalist and Town of Hempstead “Pathfinder Award” winner in the Arts and Entertainment category, just 22 years old, will sing patriotic songs, opera, Broadway tunes, and a little bit of the Irish to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
