Where/When: Mineola Boulevard, Second Street and Main Street, September 25. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Fun for everyone. Inflatable rides for children, clowns, festival of cars, face & pumpkin painting, live entertainment and contests!

2. The 2011 Long Island Fair

Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, September 22 through September 25. Thursday and Friday 10am - 4pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am - 5 pm

Why Go: A lot of fun for the entire family.  Children races, music, young adult classes and a whole lot more.

Pricing: Adults: Thur. & Fri. - $12.00; Sat. & Sun. - $15.00;  Children (5-12), Senior Citizens and Firemen - $8.00;  Children under 5 – free

Where/When: , weekly Tuesdays through Fridays from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.

Why Go: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by making a “Coqui,” which means “little frog.” Learn about this beloved animal from Puerto Rico and try your hand at making your own unique version of this special species.

Pricing: Free with museum admission

Where/When: , Saturday, September 24 from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.

Why Go: Explore the unique style of salsa music that originated in Cuba and was influenced by Spanish rhythms and jazz. Then learn some basic salsa dance steps and make fresh salsa dip to round out the healthy fiesta!

5. Storybook Stroll: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, Saturday, September 24 at 12 noon.

Why Go:  Fall down the rabbit hole to hear about Alice's adventures. Ramble through the gardens discovering locations similar to Wonderland where rabbits and other wildlife make their homes. 

Pricing: $10; $5 children 7-17; $8 Seniors; free children 6 and under

6. Nature Scavenger Hunt

Where/When: Center for Science Teaching and Learning,

Why Go:  Explore fall on the preserve with a guided hike and see if you can find everything on the scavenger hunt.  Pre-registration required.  Call 764-0045 for more information.
