Honoring Mineola's "Women of Distinction"

Assemblyman Tom McKevitt hosted his fourth annual awards ceremony Saturday.

For the fourth consecutive year, Assemblyman Tom McKevitt hosted his annual "Women of Distinction" awards ceremony Saturday afternoon to honor the "extraordinary achievements of hardworking women" from his district.

The ceremony kicked off at noon at the Albertson VFW Hall, located at 155 Searingtown Road in Albertson.

Women from the 17th Assembly District, including three from Mineola, were "recognized for their dedication and the tremendous impact they have had on their community." Mary-Grace Tomecki, village of Floral Park trustee, served as guest speaker.

"The women that we honor today represent some of the most inspiring and accomplished individuals in the county, state and the nation," McKevitt said. "Their achievements and unselfish dedication to others are wonderful examples for all of us to emulate in our own lives.

The assemblyman continued, "We are very lucky to have these women as our friends and neighbors. Special thanks should go to the families of our honorees who have allowed their loved ones to spend so much time caring for others."
