Mineola Family Takes First Prize in Pumpkin Carving Contest
Mineola family makes the cut for Halloween at Hicks Nurseries contest.
Mineola couple Camlinh Vo and John Dinh along with their two daughters, Catherine and Elizabeth, were participants in the first annual pumpkin carving contest at Hicks Nurseries this past Saturday.
Vo ended up taking first place in the Best Carved Pumpkin category and Dinh won for the scariest pumpkin. Catherine, 4, entered her pumpkin in the children’s category, while Elizabeth, too young to wield a knife, observed the entire affair.
Contest judges were artist and sculptor Andy Gertler of the Travel Channel reality TV Show “Sand Masters” and Karen Musgrave of Hicks Nurseries.
