Mineola Holds 14th Annual Halloween Party

The Mummy walks around village hall while comic book heroes rule the night.

Witches, werewolves and even a wizard showed up at the Mineola Community Center Friday night for the village’s annual Halloween party along with upwards of 300 children in costume who flooded the gymnasium and parking lot on October 26.

Pint sized ghouls, goblins and undead roamed the corridors and floors of the village hall as soon as partiers lined up at about 6:30 p.m.

The village had a variety of activities set up for the pint sized trick-or-treaters, including a giveaway bag when they first entered the building, a face-painting station, cotton candy machine, food table as well as carnival rides like a bounce-house and slide and a circular swing ride.

Members of the Marvel universe, particularly “The Avengers,” also made themselves known as popular costume choices this year as well as a popular “Gangnam Style” South Korean rap artist.

Several volunteers from the high school were on hand to help with the festivities, including the face painting stations and cotton candy machines. Other volunteers manned one of the food stations handing out hotdogs and ice cream.
