Mineola Portuguese Lions Hold 22nd Anniversary Dinner

Nassau Comptroller George Maragos honors new president Fernanda Aquas.

The Long Island Portuguese Lions Club from Mineola held its 22nd annual anniversary dinner on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Mineola Portuguese Center.

Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos honored incoming president Fernanda Aguas and outgoing President Victor Do Vale for their hard work and dedication to the organization and their community as a whole.

He also honored past-President and local businesses woman Rosa Leal, Armando & Rosa-Maria Ribeiro and past-Presidents Joao and Maria Caetano for their contributions in helping the organization raise tens-of-thousands of dollars for charities dealing in a variety of causes.

In addition, the dinner also recognized almost a dozen members of the club who were named Melvin Jones Fellows by the Lions Club International Foundation.
