Mineola Republican Club Elects Officers for 2012

Carmine Festa named new President of John S. DaVanzo Mineola Republican Club.

On January 26 the John S DaVanzo Mineola Republican Club elected a new slate of officers for 2012. The slate of officers for the coming year was read off by nominating committee chairman John Carway and are as follows:

  • President Carmine Festa
  • First vice-president Don Hammond
  • Second vice-president Gabe Parajos
  • Secretary Scott Diamond
  • Treasurer Joyce Gorycki

The slate of Officers were unanimously elected and will be sworn in by New York State , R-Mineola.

Incoming president Festa is relatively new to politics, having his first introduction after becoming involved in Sen. Martins’s campaign for state senate in 2010. A Mineola resident since 1981, Festa, is retired from the New York City Housing Authority, but is now a tax preparer, something he has enjoyed doing for the past 30 years. A Queens College Economics graduate, he has also done graduate work at Fordham University.

Festa decided it was time to give back to the community he loves and enter politics. He has admired Martins as a “forward thinking yet fiscally conservative” mayor of Mineola and decided to get involved in Martins’s senate campaign.

Festa said that he is looking forward to a vigorous campaign in the fall of 2012, which will see a full array of candidates up for election, from President, U.S. Senator, New York State Senator and Assembly and many judicial candidates.

He stated that he sees the failure of the Democrats on the national level to fix the economy as one of the many issues that will lead to a Republican victory this year.
