Mineola Resident Honored by County Clerk for Lifetime of Service

Agnes Delaportas worked for the Navy making electronics during WWII.

Mineola resident Agnes Delaportas may not resemble the infamous “Rosie the Riveter” caricature, but that did not stop her from being honored on her 90th birthday for a lifetime of service and achievement to the community.

Joined by her family and friends, Delaportas was presented with citations from both Mineola Deputy Mayor Paul Pereira and Nassau County Clerk Clerk Maureen O’Connell.

Born in New York City in August of 1921, Delaportas began work at age 14 in the electronics industry and earned certificates of merit and was honored by the Navy with a service award for her service.
