Nassau Law Enforcement Explorers Hold Fourth Annual Clay Shoot

Proceeds to benefit continuing youth program.

Member of the Nassau County Law Enforcement Exploring in conjunction with the Theodore Roosevelt Council held their Fourth Annual Lou Carnesecca Sporting Clay Invitational at the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club in Manorville on Sept. 16.

Carnescca, a well known former St. John’s NCAA basketball coach, was on hand for picture opportunities as well as autographs. Proceeds from this and all their fundraising events go to ensure the continuation and expansion of the Nassau County Law Enforcement Exploring program as well as to help secure uniforms, increase training and program opportunities and provide sponsorship for upcoming events, such as regional and national competitions, for the young men and women enrolled in the program.

Many sponsors contributed in making the event a success including sponsor Stifel Nicolaus Financial of Garden City whose team ranked top three.

Under the supervision of their police officer advisors, explorers assist the police department at special events such as parades, walk-a-thons and public gatherings.

Explorers are invited to participate in the ride-a-long program where they can experience responding to calls for service and are exposed to radio operating procedures, paperwork, report writing and the normal routines of community policing.

The Nassau County Law Enforcement Exploring program is a not for profit 501(c) (3) organized program, which is funded by private and corporate donations and administered by a Board of Directors, the Nassau County Police Department, and the Theodore Roosevelt Learning for Life Council.
