No. 73 – Activities at the Irish American Society

You don't have to be Irish to take part in the events and activities offered at the Irish American Center.

You don’t need to be a member to attend or participate in any of the events at the  in Mineola. The society has members from Queens as well as Nassau and Suffolk County. Many of the activities that are open to the public take place right at their Willis Avenue location.

  • Start the week off with Yoga on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
  • Local residents can attend  on Mondays from 12 to 3 p.m. for cards, games and good company. Come alone or with a friend; all you need is your lunch.
  • Throughout the week there is also a variety of dance and music lessons including Irish Step Dance and drum lessons.

This weekend is packed with Special Events. Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. join in and play Super “25,” an Irish card game. Players can win prizes and earn tickets for a car raffle that will be drawn on October 1.

On August 13 visitors can dance to the tunes of the Sean Wilson Band during the . The evening begins at 8:30 p.m. and features a jive competition and refreshments.*
