For those who haven’t heard of Zumba, it is an aerobic form of exercise inspired from the Latin culture that involves music and resistance training. Since gaining prominence in 2001, its popularity has grown tremendously and is being taught throughout the world.
Aside from a high intensity workout, research suggests this form of dance can improve the quality of life by releasing natural chemicals in the body.

Beth Levine recently started teaching Zumba classes at the in Mineola. An oncology nurse, she wants to help cancer patients get back on their feet.
While her classes are open to the general public, she also uses her knowledge and experience with cancer patients to try to encourage people to get out, dance and have fun as a step towards their mental recovery.
