No. 85 - Learn CPR

With the proper education and the right amount of practice, saving someone’s life can be priceless.  

Although people hope to never use Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), come summertime when the weather gets warmer and children and adults use the pool, it is important to take precaution by learning the steps that can ultimately save someone’s life. Last year there were 14 deaths on Long Island alone related to drowning.

The time when an incident first occurs until medical assistance arrives is usually the most crucial time to act in order to save someone’s life.

Seconds can make a difference so learning the necessary steps can never hurt.

CPR Training courses are offered at the  and occasionally at the  where residents can become certified. 

There are different classes offered for different prices depending on whether you are looking to become fully certified or to simply learn the steps from a professional.  

American Red Cross CPR

• CPR/AED - Adult + Child + Infant – Wednesday, May 18 and 25:  6:30 to 9 p.m. – $105 
• Citizen CPR (no certification) – Thursday, May 19:  7 to 8 p.m. – $45
• CPR/AED – Thursday, June 2: 6:30 to 10 p.m. – $90
• Citizen CPR (no certification) – Saturday, June 4:  10 to 11 a.m. – $45
• CPR AED Adult – Saturday, June 11: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – $85
• CPR/AED Adult and Child + Infant –  Thursday, June 7 and Saturday, June 18:  9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – $105
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Adult –  June 16 $120
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Adult and Child – Saturday,  June 18 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – $130
