No. 86 - Donate Blood at Winthrop
Giving blood is something you can do to help save someone else's life.
Earlier this year at the , there was 197 donors and 26 deferrals (people who wanted to donate but could not).
According to the New York Blood Center, close to 2,000 blood donations are needed each day in the New York tri-state area for patients who require a life-saving blood/platelet transfusion.
On average, a person will donate one pint of blood at a time that can be used to help a patient anywhere in New York State. Most adults have between eight to 12 pints of blood and if they can spare one for a donation, volume is usually replaced within 24 hours.
