Pack 246 Holds 'All About Scouting' Weekend

Mineola Cub Scouts welcome new leaders on camping excursion.

This past Friday night Leaders of Cub Scout Pack 246 of Mineola had the pleasure of meeting with new scouting families at their new scout orientation.

It is great to see so many new families joining us and stepping up to help out.

Despite the questionable weather, Pack 246 enjoyed a wonderful weekend of family camping beginning Saturday afternoon.

The scouts and their families enjoyed activities including whiffle ball games, football and campfire songs and skits. The senior Webelos completed their outdoor cooking and fire safety and building requirements under the guidance of their parents and den leaders Mary Castiglia, Veronica Levitan and Deborah DaSilva.

Introductions of some of the Pack’s new leaders: Michael Desiderio as Committee Chair, Jay Schneider as Cub Master and Qamar Mahmood as Assistant Cub Master also took place.

There are many more volunteers who have come forward to take on very important leadership roles in the Pack, which wishes to thank them as well.

On Sunday, with the help of the many parent volunteers, the Pack set up a table at the Mineola Street Fair and sold water as a fundraiser, even through the raindrops.

A big thank you is given to all of the community members who purchased water and/or made a donation to the Scouting program as well as a great big “Bully!” to all who came out to participate and volunteer this past weekend.

The Pack is looking forward to a great year in scouting and a wonderful program for the boys.
