The night sky was lit up over Friday night as the Village of Mineola held its annual fireworks spectacular.
Over 300 residents crammed into the lawn area of the park and across the street at the before sunset to listen to the sounds of the Nassau Pops Orchestra perform classical tunes ranging from popular TV medlies to stage scores.
Orchestra conductor Louis Panacciulli invited Habitat for Humanity in Nassau County to promote awareness of its work and mission, with president Kay McKiernan speaking about a project recently completed .
Just after 9:30 p.m. following the finale of “God Bless America,” members of the helped set off the 30 minute fireworks display from the adjacent field.
