Williston Park Students Help Seniors Affected By Sandy

St. Aidan’s eighth graders make trip to Meals on Wheels.

When teacher’s conferences gave students a half-day at St. Aidan’s school in Williston Park, many kids spent the afternoon Christmas shopping or watching TV. Nick Paternostro and Joe Brussler were not among them.

The two eighth graders made a special trip to EAC’s Meals on Wheels food pantry in Hempstead to spend the day packing up 75 holiday bags of groceries for seniors affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The food, provided by donations from EAC’s Hurricane Sandy Senior Relief Fund, will be delivered to homebound seniors affected by the storm.

“It’s been a rough few weeks for these seniors after the storm,” EAC Senior & Nutritional Services Director Carol O’Neill said. “Many are frail and vulnerable, and following the storm, with its lengthy power outages, many were facing a winter with empty pantry shelves.”

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
