About: Growing up behind the counter of her parent’s pet shop in Long Island, New York, Michelle Ferreira learned you had to command attention to truly be heard. From amidst the medley of cages rattling and animals of every kind squeaking, chirping, and purring, Michelle herself began to sing, to find her voice. From one jungle to the next, she developed what would truly become her sound in her small apartment while attending college in New York City. She toiled on her own, perfecting the songs she had written before she was willing to perform them at her university’s acoustic café. The performance was well-received, and drove Michelle to begin recording her debut album “Stories Left Unsaid” alongside producer Chris Wallitsch. Since the album’s raucous release party on October 5, 2011 at The Bitter End, Michelle has landed gigs at different venues across Long Island and NYC. She continues to spread her wings by taking her songs to different stages, both physical and virtual, as she performs her own songs at venues and records covers. And with new songs being written and fine-tuned, the sky is the limit for Michelle. This songbird has broken free of her cage and is poised to soar.
