Second Mineola Movie Night in the Park is Friday Night

Chamber to screen original "Despicable Me."

The second Mineola Movie Night in the Park will be tomorrow night at Wilson Park near the village pool.

All residents are invited to attend and bring their families to see the original “Despicable Me” starring Steve Carell as Gru, the Russian-accented villian-turned father of three adopted girls. A sequel to the Dreamworks animated comedy recently came out in theaters.

The outdoor screening is free to attend for Mineola residents and has a rain date of July 20.

The newly revamped chamber website, which went live earlier this month, has a page dedicated to voting on which family-friendly movie residents want shown out under the stars: recent animated movies “Wreck-it Ralph”, “Despicable Me” or the classic 80’s movie “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.”

Last year the chamber showed the animated adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book “The Lorax” starring Danny DeVito.

The chamber is attempting to get several local fitness centers and gyms to come and do demonstrations, which Greene said would consist of “stretchy things” and to help promote their businesses. The Mineola Junior Fire Department was also being sent an invitation to sell food for donations for their organization.
