Albertson Man Shot by Police Wednesday

Albertson resident Brian Reilly shot three times on Netz Place Wednesday morning.

An Albertson man was reportedly shot multiple times by Nassau County Police Wednesday morning at Netz Place.

According to police, a 911 call was received at about 10:18 a.m. from a homeowner who was standing in front of his house about a man with a gun near the corner of Willis Avenue.

According to detectives, while pulling into his driveway, a residence on Netz Place, the 22 year old male victim was confronted by Brian Reilly, 56, who pointed what the victim believed to be a black handgun at him. Reilly, without words being spoken, then continued on down the block. The victim then called 911 for police assistance.

When police arrived, the victim described the unknown male to the officer and a description of the subject was broadcast. A short time later Reilly was observed by investigating officers walking on Netz Place.

Upon confronting Reilly and ordering him to show his hands, Reilly pulled what appeared to be a black handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the officers forcing them to draw their guns and fire them. Reilly was struck three times by the three shots that were fired, one in each leg and the third in his right hand.

Reilly was then placed into custody and was removed to an area hospital where he was admitted with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The weapon that Reilly threatened the officers with turned out to be a black BB handgun.

The Meadow Drive School was placed on lockdown at the time of the incident a Mineola School District employee confirmed, but the exact time and length of the lockdown was unknown.

Reilly is charged with two counts of menacing a police officer, second degree menacing and two counts of fourth degree possession of a dangerous weapon. He will be arraigned as soon as practical.
