Bites Nearby: Philippe in Jericho

Philippe Chow brings restaurant to fill market for Chinese dining.

Philippe in Jericho is the latest location of the growing Philippe Chow empire with outposts in East Hampton, Manhattan, Miami, Mexico City and West Hollywood.

Philippe in Jericho – the dining room of the location is understated Asian: a black wooden floor, red banquettes, white walls and tablecloths and graceful phalaenopsis orchids on the windowsills.

Featured appetizer menu items like crisp crunchy lettuce wraps and Peking duck spring rolls, plates of lettuce cups were served with chopped chicken and vegetables and thick plum sauce to be assembled. This dish can also be made with beef, shrimp or vegetarian.

An entreé of American black bass slices comes with black bean and garlic sauce in a ginger scallion brown sauce. “Green” prawns were mixed with cashews, water chestnuts, peppers and black mushrooms. The Beijing chicken is served mixed with crispy walnuts in a sweet brown sauce and the buttery taste of the black cod remained after the last bite was eaten.

One noticeable surprise was that diners were given hot towels after the meal.
