A bustling neighborhood place in Williston Park with good food and a welcoming atmosphere.

Positano is not only a village on the Amalfi Coast of southern Italy – it is the name of a popular restaurant in Williston Park where owner Antonio Positano has been serving the specialties of his homeland for over two decades.

Positano Pizzeria and Ristorante – the pizzeria is in the front of the restaurant, offering pizza by the slice and whole pies, to eat there or for take out. An eight-slice Neapolitan pie costs $12.90 and their 12-slice Sicilian pie is $15.90. The Sicilian Special ($19.50) is topped with sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, onions and mozzarella (with anchovies available upon request).

Pizza can also be order in the back dining room and fresh bread from the pizza oven is brought to the table. A complete lunch, consisting of soup, salad, choice of a hero, pasta or entrée, coffee or tea and cheesecake, is available for $11.95; to be expected at a southern Italian restaurant, there are numerous pasta dishes.

Portions are large. The house salad is packed with enough vegetables to meet anyone’s minimum daily requirements: lettuce, cauliflower, red beans, mushrooms, celery, green beans, tomatoes, cucumber, carrot, and green and black olives! There’s lots of flavor in the Positano dishes – chicken scarpariello was tangy and the homemade ricotta cheesecake was fresh and crumbly.
