Former Mineola Blockbuster Location Vacant Again

99 Cent store moves out of 500 Jericho Turnpike address.

The former location of a Blockbuster Video store in Mineola is once again vacant after a 99 Cent store has closed up shop.

The storefront at 500 Jericho Turnpike had been occupied for over 20 years by Blockbuster Video, with the 99 Cents Shopping Spree store moving in over the summer. The store owners had come before the village board in June 2012 to request a special use permit in order to sell prepackaged food items at the store.

Earlier this month the store was seen to be vacant with an informational placard placed in the windows and the “now open” banner slack above the Jericho Turnpike façade.

An office space on the second floor of the store has also been advertised continuously for some time.

Calls to the number placed in the window were answered only by a man who identified himself as “Eric,” who stated that the landlord of the property was sick and was not available to answer questions regarding the property or tenant. He did state that they would be taking all reasonable offers on the property for rent.
