Mineola Chamber Calls for Volunteers for Upcoming Events

Committee members needed for street fair and Taste & Styles events.

The is still on the lookout for volunteers for both of its marquee events this year: the Mineola Village Street Fair and the Taste & Styles event at .

“We need your time and energy to make these events a success,” chamber president Ray Sikorski said at the June 21 meeting. “I don’t say that the street fair needs more volunteers than the other event but it really does because it requires a lot of footwork, a lot of soliciting businesses.”

This year the 20th anniversary street fair will take place on September 25 and the Taste & Styles will occur on October 20.

The chamber from to the downtown area so as to “focus on promoting the businesses in town,” Steve Ford said. “I know that the businesses, a lot of the businesses could use a boost.”

The chamber is also adding a car show to the event.

The Taste & Styles event gives back to the community by raising money for the , , and the .

“The community is really looking for an event like this, I know the townsfolk are looking for an event like this,” Sikorski said.

Volunteers who sign up are not required to attend every meeting as there are “multiple layers” of participation.

Persons are needed in a variety of capacities, including those to head up the entertainment, organizing craft vendors and food. Meetings on Tuesdays at with the exception of July 19.

“We need your help and your enthusiasms and that will make this thing a super success,” Sikorski said.
