Readers’ Choice: Best Tax Preparer in Mineola

Keep the taxman at bay by choosing the right expert.

April is tax season. Everyone has a method for filing taxes. It’s as limitless as the deductions you can claim.

Many choose to go it alone and prepare their own taxes. And there’s always your brother-in-law, who your wife swears is good with numbers.

But for those who don’t, there’s an army of professionals – from CPAs, attorneys and accountants to tax preparers – who know the tax code and can navigate the e-file process for you.

Better make that appointment now. Personal income tax returns are due Tuesday, April 17.

Time to weigh in. Mineola Patch is looking to unearth the best tax preparer in town. Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s tax preparers – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Wednesday we’ll narrow the field, taking your recommendations to put to a vote in the ultimate flat tax poll.

The following week we’ll announce our winner.

Do you use a large commercial firm like H&R Block, a small private CPA or firm or do your taxes yourself? Do you use software like Turbotax to help?

My name is Tony Panebianco, CPA and I would like to be added to the list. I offer year-round advice to individuals and small businesses. Many tax preparers are easy to contact during tax season, but not outside of tax season. Federal and state governments are under pressure to raise more in tax revenues and tax laws are always changing. Avoid overpaying taxes. If you have questions, contact me for a free initial consultation. (516)319-7393 or tonycpa72@hotmail.com.

Tony, where are your offices located? You have posted in both Mineola and New Hyde Park Patch sites.

I am in Williston Park, Mineola school district. Since there is no Williston Park Patch, I posted on both Mineola and New Hyde Park because I frequently go to clients in both areas.
