Cardinis in New Hyde Park has the best Itailin food in nassau, but Cara Mia in Queens Village is the best anywhere

Piccolo's near Sheridan Bowl on Jericho Tnpke. The most mouth-watering homemade raviolis anywhere and super-friendly owners.

Carlino's Restaurant in Mineola serves the best Italian food in the world. Carlino's consistently has the best pasta, meat, fish, and pizza. I've eaten Italian food all over the world, and I've never found better food anywhere.

I agree with Toni. Carlino's Restaurant in Mineola has the "Best Italian Food on Long Island". Their Grandma's Pizza is the best and their Veal Pizzaiola is the most tender, succulent, flavorful and delicious veal I've ever eaten. I also love their $29.99 3 Course Lobster Special on Wednesday. Their staff is very friendly and there's never a wait. My wife and daughter love to go there to eat and everyone I've ever taken there has said it is the best Italian food they've ever had.

I've got to give Carlino's the nod too. They make their own Italian sausage, and it makes a huge difference. They also have plenty of variety on the menu -- woman does not live by spaghetti alone. (On the other hand, they also do an awesome traditional spaghetti and meatballs, so maybe I could try!)

I also agree that Carlino's is the best. The food is always fresh and prepared just right. There are no favorite dishes as they are all great. The desserts also can't be avoided. The prices are very reasonable for this high quality food and service. The specials are beyond belief with price fixed meals and a 2 lb lobster dinner on Wednesday's for $29.95 is almost half of the price at other places in the area. The staff are all professional and pleasant and been there for a long time which tells you a lot about a good restaurant.

The Lucky Duck In Garden City South- always enjoy dinner there. It's close, moderately priced, attentive staff and everything is delicious! (And, yes it is Italian!)

Umberto’s NHP Restaurant. Great Menu - Thoughtfully prepared - Wine list is impeccable if you read Wine Spectator and are a real wine fine.

Piccola Bussolla on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, really good, one a little further out is Forrmagia on Old Country Road really good food

Positano's on Hillside in Mineola. Awesome Gnocchi!
Dan July 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM
This is a no brainer. Umberto’s of NHP. It's the only Italian Restaurant people travel to from all of NY state and I even have friends who have me ship pizza and other dishes to themn in other States. I will try the other Restaurants on the list though.

I've neve been to Lucky Duck but it doesn't sound like it would have good Italian food.

Calageros in GC...i like Nonna Bella in GC for a new Italian menu
Ralph DiLeone July 06, 2012 at 09:51 PM
My vote goes to Carlino's Restaurant in Mineola, NY. It's a great family restaurant with scrumptous, reasonably priced Southern Italian food. The seating is very comfortable and the service is excellent and friendly. I also like that they have a huge parking lot in the back with plenty of spaces and easy parking on the street too. They're especially nice to my son, who loves going there. My son's favorite is the Veal Parmigiana. My wife loves the Homemade Sausage, Peppers & Onions, and mine is the Lobster Crabmeat Ravioli. Carlino's makes the Ravioli in this delicious Marinara Sauce with Shallots. Carlo, Wali and Janine really care about their customers. Carlo is the brother of Umberto (of New Hyde Park fame). I read somewhere that Carlino's food is based on recipes that Carlo learned from his mother in Naples. Yum! I think I'll go there tonight.
Ralph DiLeone July 06, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Yeah. Umberto's would definately be my second choice. They're fantastic, but I think Umberto's brother Carlo (Carlino's Restaurant in Mineola) has him beat by a nose.

I am also voting for Calageros in GC.

The Wednesday Night Lobster Special is the best! Bar None!
Ralph Ray July 29, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Carlino's is my go to restaurant. Carlino's $29,95 Lobster Special is the best deal on Long Island and the home made Italian sausage is the best I have ever eaten! The lobster was so fresh and tasty, I thought it was just pulled from the sea. Forgetaboutit. Carlino's is definately the # 1 Italian restaurant on Long Island and possibly the best restaurant in New York. I'm can't wait to go back this Wednesday.

Mama Theresa's- my fave, the fillet of sole Francese is the best! It's crowded and the line is always long but well worth the wait and the crowd.
Vincent August 07, 2012 at 04:30 PM
Joann Donahue: can't you read? Queens Village does not fit the criteria. And you have to be kidding the readers with Cardinis. My word.
Andrew Russell August 07, 2012 at 05:49 PM
You left off Angeletto's on Hillside Ave / New Hyde Park Road. The food is great there!

Nonna Bella is outstanding!!
Gina August 17, 2012 at 02:47 PM
Anyone who votes for any place over la Nonna Bella has either not eaten there in the past year or does not know what real authentic Italian food should taste like. It's the best!
Susan Posner August 17, 2012 at 05:41 PM
I think you are missing Uncle Baccalas! Umbertos and Carlino are household names in NHP, but home made pasta at Piccolos is outstanding...think we should have a three way tie for second ad offer up the Uncle!
