Ribbon Cutting Held for Uncle Louie G's

Mineola's newest ice cream shop holds official grand opening.

About a month after holding their , Mineola’s , , held their official grand opening this past Saturday complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from members of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce.

Village trustees Paul Pereira and Paul Cusato were on hand along with several other members of the chamber, including newly elected president Bill Greene. The Sandler family, who resides in Mineola, gave away free ices all afternoon to an estimated crowd of over 400 people.

A clown doing face painting and making balloon animals was a big hit with the kids at the event as parents and children all enjoyed a variety of the 45 flavors of Italian Ice and 35 flavors of ice cream available at the store in addition to various other treats including iced coffees, shakes, slushies and sundaes. A party room is available for children's birthday parties with a variety of party packages or just the room rental.

In the spirit of giving back to the community, the Sandler family, which owns and operates the store, have designated several discount days: Mineola Mondays offers a 20 percent discount to all Mineola volunteers, including and workers; Tuesday is Senior Citizen day, offering 20 percent off to anyone 65 years and older while Winthrop Wednesdays offers 20 percent off to all employees every Wednesday.
