Vacant Jericho Turnpike Office Building [POLL]

An office building is available at 212 Jericho Turnpike.

There’s nothing like a brand new office building in which to start a business or relocate to a bigger space. For the past 2 years, there has been an available office space at 212 Jericho Turnpike, on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Mineola Boulevard.

The owner, Alvino Desousa bought the open space 2 years ago when there was no building on the site opting to construct an office building fill the vacant lot.

The space was also the campaign headquarters of Sen. Jack Martins during the 2010 election.

The 17,000 square feet space is aligned with tan and beige smooth stone and the class doors are welcoming. Currently Desousa says the property is up for rent or sale and prices are negotiable. However, the sales tax will be discussed with buyers who contact him.

The office building is located at 212 Jericho Turnpike and Desousa is always available to take calls.

With the taxes and traffic problems no one will want this space.

Taxes alone... you will never make any money....you can pay that mortgage off all you want, but taxes never go away... I know tons of commercial owners who payed off their mortgages years ago and had to sell because of the taxes...These empty commercial buildings are every where today and continue to be built...how can banks lend money to build these buildings when so many are empty...maybe a Muslim group can take over who are tax exempt....

TJ the real problem is that Long Island has already reached the tipping point. With the highest property taxes in the nation (that’s right Nassau is No.1) the county is still bankrupt. Now new business is discouraged so more taxes will need to be put on those who remain; while police and other services are cut back. Businessmen look years into the future and in a more and more globalized economy they will look to low tax states as the only alternative to going overseas.

I don't know how to break this to any of you, but that building has been vacant for WAY MORE than two years. Try six or seven at least. We've been looking at that huge FOR RENT sign since the building was finished. A few months ago there was a FOR SALE sign but that didn't last long. Years ago, Lou Sanders wrote in his "Around the Town with Lou" column in the Mineola American that he asked the owner why the property was vacant for so long. According to Mr. Sanders, the owner was looking for just the right tenant. Just another empty building occupying space in Mineola. But they do have a lovely fountain in their parking lot. No cars because there are no tenants, but a big fancy fountain. And a nice big loss for the owner to claim when he files his taxes.
