Community Update
Hello. My family & I have been residents of
Lindenhurst Village for over 20 years. We are in our time of need. I
worked in the Lindenhurst School District for 14 years. I was excessed
due to budget cuts. I have Crohn's Disease & Colitis and have had
major surgery because of it. We are on one income, a very modest one at
that, and have 2 children living at home. They actually quit college to
help us financially as best they could. I'm very proud of them. I am
asking that you PLEASE post our on-line fundraiser for our medical
expenses. It seems only Bill Gates can afford to get sick. We have
medical coverage, but it only covers 80%. Dennis, my husband, gets chemo
every two weeks. After a 3-4 hour infusion, he has to wear a bottle
with a balloon inside containing the "cocktail" for another 48 hours.
This costs $30,000. Then he gets disconnected after 48 hours (or when
the balloon is empty). A chemo nurse taught me how to disconnect him, so
I do it at home (saving one doctor's visit cost). He now as to go to
Sloan Kettering anyway that same disconnect day to get a shot to raise
his white blood cell count (wbc count has been too low, to many times).
This shot is another $5,000. So, every two weeks we pay 80% of $35,000
PLUS doctor visits and blood tests. We are also paying off previous
surgeries (5 in total between the two of us). After 6 chemo treatments
(we have 2 left) they want to operate on him. They want to do a new
"IMMOBILIZATION SURGERY". He will only be a candidate for this if the
cancer is centralized to one organ. Currently it is in 3 spots on his
stomach. There are questionable lymph nodes on his liver that the
pre-chemo tests were inconclusive to whether or not these lymph nodes
are cancerous. We are in DESPERATE need of practical help. If you could
post this link on your website and possibly donate ANYTHING ($10,
ANYTHING) we would be grateful beyond what words can say. I know this
isn't exciting, but I know your MineolaPatch Page is well respected, not
only by us, but people around the world. If you would help us get the
word out, I believe this would be the help we've been praying for (along
with praying for healing). I thank you in advance for your time and
