Aug. 29: Irene Aftermath, Power Outage Advice and a Belated Birthday

Here are some of the events going on around Mineola.

As if Hurricane Irene wasn’t enough, Mineola residents now have to face Monday morning. Probably many employers will be understanding if you won’t be able to make it into work, what with power outages and a reduced LIRR schedule. One place that’s still up and running though is the Mineola Patch and we’ll be covering the cleanup efforts all around town because the news doesn’t stop, even for our birthday celebration.

1. Mineola residents weathered the storm this weekend but parts of the village sustained damage in the form of downed trees and wires. Much of the village is still reportedly without power. Click !

2. The Long Island Rail Road says that service will be restored to half of its lines by the morning rush. Be sure to check their website for times and schedules if you’re headed into the city.
