Patch Honored for 2010 Election Night Coverage

Mineola and Port Washington editors take first place for coverage of state Senate race.

The Patch editors for Mineola and Port Washington took home top honors at the 2011 Press Club of Long Island Media Awards Thursday night at the Woodbury Country Club for their coverage of election night 2010.

Mineola editor Geoffrey Walter and Port Washington Editor Adina Genn garnered the first place award in the Online–Deadline News category for the article “,” where then-Mineola was a few hundred votes ahead of then-.

Following numerous appearances in court and appeals all the way to the New York State Supreme Court, the race eventually tipped the balance of power in the state Senate back to the Republicans.
