Significant Delays on LIRR on Passover Eve

Riders advised to take one of the extra holiday trains if possible.

Due to a track condition in one of Amtrack’s East River tunnels, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is anticipating significant delays during the evening rush.

Customers are advised to take one of the Passover extra trains if possible.

UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: LIRR service is experiencing eastbound delays of 5 to 10 minutes out of Penn Station. LIRR access to Penn Station is restricted at the 34th Street entrance and at the 33rd Street escalators. Westbound service between Jamaica and Penn remains temporarily suspended. NYC Transit is honoring westbound fares.

UPDATE 7:28 p.m.: LIRR service is experiencing eastbound delays of 20 to 30 minutes out of Penn Station. NYC Transit is honoring westbound fares.

UPDATE 7:32 p.m.: According to its Twitter feed, the LIRR’s westbound service between Jamaica and Penn has been restored as of 7:20 p.m.

UPDATE 7:54 p.m.: the LIRR is experiencing eastbound delays of 10 to 15 minutes east of Jamaica, and westbound delays of 5 to 10 minutes. NYC Transit is no longer honoring LIRR fares.

UPDATE 9:44 p.m.: LIRR service is reported to be running or or close to schedule system-wide.
