Chanukah Telethon This Sunday To Make History Live Redemption of 12 year old boy!
The Chanukah Telethon airs this Sunday Dec 16th 2012, from 7-11pm on WLNY TV channels 10/55. It will also be streaming live on www.chanukahtelethon.com.
Tune in for 'a first' on television, a Pidyon HaBen - the redemption of the [first born] son, for a 12 year old!
This ceremony, usually reserved for the 31st day after the baby's birth, will be performed by parents who have just recently learned of this obligation to redeem their first born son by giving 5 silver coins to a Kohen (a priestly descendant of Aaron).

The evening will also showcase special honors to Hurricane Sandy Survivors & First Responders of the Emergency Services. Tune in to learn of the dramatic moving story of Mitka Kalinski, a holocaust survivor who was the child slave to a Nazi.
Just prior to Hurricane Sandy two Nassau County cops were tragically killed, days apart. They were Police Officers Arthur Lopez and Joseph Olivieri. Their families will be joining the rabbi and co-hosts on the Telethon's center stage.
VIP Telethon Honorees include renowned health industry leaders Brad Markowitz, Michael New and Dr Mitchel Wolfson.
The Telethon will be hosted by Rabbi Perl with co-hosts Mickey B, Leni Goldsmith, Jay Mostel, Kive Strickoff &Dave Weiss. Also emceeing are The Bible Players, Andrew Davies and Aaron Friedman.
The Dancing Rabbis, first class entertainment accompanied by the Neshoma Ochestras, all make the potpourri for this uplifting evening of support in helping so many who have fallen between the cracks during these difficult times.
