Community Corner

Nassau County Portugal Day 2013

After much success in 2012, it gives me, along with Comptroller George Maragos, great pride to invite you to join us once again in honoring the Nassau County Portuguese community during our 2nd Annual PORTUGAL DAY CELEBRATION on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building located at 1550 Franklin Avenue in Mineola, New York. Among our guests will be Senator Jack Martins and the Ambassador of Portugal to the United States, His Excellency Nuno Brito, to be our Keynote Speaker.

During the event, individuals, selected by the Presidents of your community groups, will be honored for their contributions and accomplishments in our community. As it has in the past, this event will serve as an opportunity for residents to enjoy the evening together as well as demonstrate their national pride. The event will feature traditional Portuguese food, dessert, music and folklore dancing.

Your presence will not only enhance the event but will also boost the morale of the Portuguese-American community here in Nassau County.  As always, if you have any questions or to RSVP, please feel free to contact Herb Flores at 516-571-3261 or Gabriel Marques at 516-571-1756or at gmarques@nassaucountyny.gov.

Warm regards,

Edward P. Mangano,
County Executive
