Go Fund Me Page Aiming for Medical Relief for Philippines Typhoon Victims

Mineola non-profit Global Health Alliance Network seeking funds for trip and medications.

After hearing about the devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Soumia Nair, Shirley Hartley & Mayano Ochi, who are affiliated with the non-profit Global Health Alliance Network plan on traveling to the island nation on Jan. 10, 2014 for two weeks to help provide relief.

"We are no strangers to medical missions as many of us going on this mission to the Philippines also went to Haiti following the catastrophic earthquake of January 2010," Nair writes in this Go Fund Me page asking for donations to help fund the journey.

So far, $1,560 has been raised of a goal of $20,000 for airfare and money for medical supplies. To donate, click here.

The group will be journeying to DaanBantayan, one of Cebu's northern provinces, and will be providing medical care based out of a local church. Nair writes that "there are no local clinics or hospitals in the area left standing at this time or structurally sound enough for us to safely work in."
