Mineola Junior Fire Department Holds Benefit Breakfast for Typhoon Victims

Pancake breakfast raises $2,500 for victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Sunday the members of the Mineola Junior Fire Department held a benefit pancake breakfast for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, raising about $2,500 in the process.

Junior fire department advisor William Gresalfi said that the amount raised was respectable since the decision to hold the benefit was only made two weeks ago, coming together on a very tight schedule and held on Thanksgiving weekend. The junior department had not held a benefit pancake breakfast last year due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy.

All participants this year enjoyed all-you-can-eat pancakes, French toast plus other breakfast items as well such as bacon, sausage, cereal, coffee and juice, etc.
