Nothing is Wrong, but Something is Missing. Connecting with Your Life's Purpose

Family - check.  Job - check.  Friends - check.  Health - check.  Happy - not so much.

If on paper your life reads like there should be no reason to complain, but secretly you feel like something is missing, you are not alone. You may think you are being ungrateful, that you should feel happy and complete, but somehow there seems to be a hole that you cannot identify, much less fill.

You may want to consider that nothing is wrong with you, but that what you are sensing is the voice of a deeper part of you calling you to connect more fully with your purpose.

Simply put, your purpose is to live from the perspective of who you really are; to experience and share of yourself in a way that is authentic to you.

The problem is that we most often identify ourselves by outside titles; mother, wife, boss, brother, lawyer, housewife, wealthy, overweight, etc., and we neglect to honor the parts of ourselves that don’t fall within the confines of these roles. Surely, we can live who we truly are under the umbrella of the relationships we have, but when we are not true to our inner desires to express our gifts and our individual way of being, we experience a sense of loss and emptiness.

So if this is you, what can you do?  Start by listening and honoring the impulses of your heart.  Maybe you are a brawny guy who works in a manly job, but you have a secret desire to learn to watercolor butterflies.  Then, go for it!  Or you may be a busy housewife with an urge to take up a seemingly pointless hobby.  So, sign yourself up!

There is a 99.99% chance that you will not be getting a letter in the mail saying open here to discover your life’s purpose.  However, your inner voice is always pointing you in the direction of you.  When you learn to listen more fully, you start living and experiencing life with more joy and a greater sense of fulfillment, and you can answer, “check” to living the real me.
