Retired Mineola elementary school teacher passed away on Jan. 29, 2013.
Ann L. Abernethy of East Williston, NY passed away on Jan. 29, 2013.
She was the companion of James Roesler; sister of Chris Abernethy and Corlie Eldred (Keith); aunt of Geoffrey Eldred (Stacey), Matthew Eldred (Meghan) and Timothy Eldred; great aunt of Reid, Rowan and Charlotte Eldred.
Abernethy was a retired teacher from the Jackson Avenue School in the Mineola School District.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 420 Stewart Ave., Garden City, NY 11530.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Resurrection Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society.
