Charles “Bill” William Bartow, 88, WWII Veteran

Former Mineola resident passed away on Nov. 23, 2013.

Charles “Bill” William Bartow of Cumming, GA passed away Nov., 23, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born on June 26, 1925. Bartow followed his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth, who passed away three weeks earlier. Born and raised in Mineola, NY, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Luella Bartow, and his sisters, Doris Bartow and Madalyn Seaman.

Bill was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Army. His service to his country was a great pride for him and his entire family. He will always be our hero. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and was retired from Mead Packaging. He could always make his children laugh and gifted them with his sense of humor. He loved current events, history, his yard, and his beloved dogs. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece and nephew.

He is survived by his children, Bruce Bartow of Hilton Head, SC, Brenda Spence of Alpharetta, GA, Debra (Victor) Hayes of St. Simons Island, GA, Diane (David) Kenmore of Lilburn, GA, Susan Kovitch of Albuquerque, NM, Robert (Meredith) Bartow of Marietta, GA, Laura (Kent) Tuttle of Cumming, GA and David Bartow of Johns Creek, GA; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and faithful caregiver, Ms. De Salter of Cumming, GA.

A memorial service with military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery is being planned for a later date.
