Edward John Krach Sr., WWII Veteran, 85

Tank battalion and Chaminade alumni passes away on December 7.

Edward John Krach, Sr. passed away on Dec. 7, 2012 at the age of 85.

Krach was born in Brooklyn on Jan. 17, 1927 to Edward V. Krach and Helen (Sachs) Krach. He attended school at Chaminade High School in Mineola as a member of the Class of 1945. He was also formally a resident of Oakwood, Ohio for 37 years.

During World War II he served with the 44th Tank Battalion. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1950, with a B.S. in Economics and Accounting. Following graduation, he joined Frigidaire District of General Motors and rose to general supervisor of corporate insurance before moving to Frigidaire Sales Corp. Krach retired in 1981. He was also a partner of Dayton Tax & Accounting as a CPA for 61 years, retiring in 2011.

He is survived by wife Mary Laura (Muth), children Susan Krach Gosser, Connie Krach Bell, Kathy Krach Fleury, Ed Jr., Richard, and Gerry, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a charter member of the Maria Joseph Council (4022) of the Knights of Columbus and Treasurer of the University of Dayton Alumni Board.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424). A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at Emmanuel Catholic Church (149 Franklin St, Dayton, OH 45402). Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
