Eugene “Gene” Vorhies, Jr., 73, Management Consultant

Chaminade High School graduate passed away on Feb. 14, 2013

Eugene “Gene” Vorhies, Jr. passed away on Feb. 14, 2013 at the age of 73 in Arizona, after his three year journey with pancreatic cancer.

He born in New York, NY on June 29, 1939. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School on Long Island, MIT and The Wharton School of Business, he had two distinct careers.

In the first one he served as a management consultant to nonprofit organizations and the Federal Government. The second one involved working for a major hospital corporation, from which he retired as a regional administrator. Both careers were interesting and challenging and required a great amount of both domestic and foreign travel.

He was very fortunate to enjoy a long and satisfying retirement, living life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife wife Aila; son David; two grandchildren, Kai and Anneli; family and friends in Finland and a legion of devoted friends both here and overseas.

The family thanks the staff at Hospice of the Valley, Palm Valley location, for their dedicated, loving care. Arrangements by Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, AZ.
