Joseph L. Tobin, Jr., of Garden City, NY, formerly of Tequesta, FL, passed away peacefully on Jan. 13, 2014 at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones.

He was the devoted husband of sixty years of the late Helen (nee McMahon), loving father of Joseph III (Susan), Patricia Adelman (Howard), Janet, Brian, Mary Beth Macaluso (Mark), Daniel and the late Mark L. Tobin. Cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Mara and Michael Adelman and Anne Mari and Tara Lynne Macaluso.

Proud World War II Navy Veteran having served in Normandy during the D-Day invasion; graduate of Catholic University School of Law Class of '50; partner in the Mineola law firm of Sprague, Stem, Aspland, Dwyer and Tobin; former President of the Nassau County Bar Association and Acting Village Justice of the Village of Hempstead. A true gentleman, be lived his life committed to family, faith and his profession.

A wake will be held at the Barnes-Sorrentino Funeral Home, 539 Hempstead Ave., West Hempstead, NY, on Thursday, January 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, January 17 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m.  on Friday at St. Thomas RCC. Interment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mark L. Tobin Fellowship at Fordham University, 888 Seventh Avenue, NY, NY 10019.
