Robert J. Moylan, Chaminade Alumni, 82

Navy veteran and Chaminade graduate passed away on November 27.

Robert J. Moylan passed away on November 27 at the age of 82 in his home with his wife by his side.

Moylan was born on Jan. 28, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY to Cornelius and Anna Miniter Moylan. He graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, and Holy Cross College in Worcester.

Moylan served in the Navy before graduating from New York Law School in 1957, working for Dewey Ballantine and American Can Company as director of real estate. He was previously a resident of Greenwich and Pleasantville before living in New Canaan, CT for over 20 years.

In New Canaan, Moylan was a past president of the Senior Men’s Club, a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and a Salant Round Table discussion leader. He was also a member of the Woodway Gun Club, Campfire Club of America and Atlantic lndians.

Moylan is survived by his wife, Barbara Bruggeman Moylan; four sons: Christopher Moylan, of Sunnyvale, CA; Robert J. Moylan, of Sydney, Australia; David Moylan, of Pompano Beach, FL; and Bradley Silcox, of Vietnam; two daughters, Margaret Marsden, of Hickory, NC; and Amy Silcox, of Perrysburg, OH; sister, Ann O'Brien, of Yonkers, NY; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother John Moylan.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan followed by a private internment.
